Education
Croxteth Hall & Country Park is one of the major heritage centres in the North West, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
Croxteth Hall is the former home of the Molyneux family (Earls of Sefton) and lies at the heart of a historic country estate, yet is only five miles from Liverpool city centre.
Today it provides a broad and rich educational resource giving every pupil an outstanding quality visit which will engage the mind and body and offer stimulating learning experiences.
Liverpool, as European Capital of Culture 2008 and a World Heritage City, has many exciting and innovative events on offer throughout the year. The learning opportunities at Croxteth delivered by the Ranger Interpretation Service (RIS) and Farm Rangers aim to reflect this creative spirit and will be part of the process as the city reinvents itself to become a major European centre of culture and learning.
The RIS will also link with other education providers to produce an emphasis on learning about Liverpool's rich cultural heritage through its Parks and greenspaces. There is a rich tapestry of learning opportunities available in the City's parklands (13 of which now sport Green Flag status). We have knowledgeable staff and resources located in our parks and are forming partnerships with volunteers and other providers to deliver excellent education programmes.
Croxteth Hall & Country Park offers innovative, high quality education programmes, recognised by the Heritage Education Trust in the Sandford Awards for Heritage Education. The Sandford Award (reassessed and reawarded in 2006) has been held by Croxteth for over 25 years of excellence in heritage education.
We have a range of educational resources, including interpretive panels, historical artefacts, worksheets, workbooks and publications - but our most important resource is our dedicated Ranger Interpretation Service, who provide expert knowledge alongside innovative delivery of guided visits.
Aims
To achieve our vision we will work in partnership to deliver:
"top quality education services which raise attainment and develop the self-esteem, skills, knowledge and qualifications that our citizens need"
Croxteth is now a Green Flag Park!
In 2007 Croxteth Hall & Country Park received its first Green Flag Award, a national standard for parks and green spaces, for quality parkland and incorporating outstanding green space management involving local communities and park users.
Quality Assured Visitor Attraction
Our park is now a 'Quality Assured Visitor Attraction' - an award presented after a screening process by Visit Britain which assessed Croxteth for its facilities and level of service. Annual assessment is made to ensure the quality standard is maintained.
