Attractions

Children enjoy the play area at Croxteth Country ParkCroxteth Hall and Country Park is one of Liverpool's most important heritage sites, one of "the finest working country estates in the North West" and - with our events and education programme - helped make Liverpool a winner of the European Capital of Culture 2008.

The park is at the heart of what was once a great country estate stretching hundreds of square miles and was the ancestral home of the Molyneux family, the Earls of Sefton.

After the death of the last Earl it was given to the City of Liverpool.

The estate has four main attractions - The Historic Hall, Croxteth Home Farm, the Victorian Walled Garden and a 500 acre country park including the new Croxteth Local Nature Reserve. A new addition to what's on offer at Croxteth is the West Derby Courthouse. Dating from the reign of Elizabeth I, this is one of the oldest public buildings in Liverpool.

Quality Assured Visitor Attraction logo
Green Flag logoOur park is now a 'Quality Assured Visitor Attraction' - an award presented after a screening process by Visit Britain which assessed Croxteth for its facilities and levels of service. We have held the award now for the past six years. It has also recently been judged to be of Green Flag quality - a National Standard for parks.

In addition to these, the following exist for you to enjoy.

Gift shops
Visit our shops in the Hall and farm for a wide range of souvenirs, sweets and gifts for all ages.

Events
We have a large and very varied events programme ranging from gentle walks through the countryside to fun dog shows, traditional flower show and markets to a traditional Country Fair - something for everyone to enjoy! As in previous years, we are continuing our policy to make entry to our major events free of charge. Browse our events calendar (PDF [2.1Mb] opens in new window) to find out more.

Adventure playground
There is a free adventure playground for children under 13 years of age (including a separate area for nursery/early years children) near the Farm entrance with picnic tables nearby. For very young children there is a small play area in the Farm.

Orienteering
Specially mapped and designed for us by Merseyside Orienteering Club, we have two different scale orienteering maps available. Orienteers of all abilities can tailor a course to suit their own ability with courses of varying length and difficulty available.

1:8,000 (the whole park is mapped). Courses range from 1.0Km graded as 'Orange' or medium difficulty up to 6.5Km 'Red' hard course

1:5,000 (map of the inner area around the Hall). Courses on this map range from 1.7Km 'Yellow' or easy, up to 3.0Km 'Orange' or medium difficulty courses.

Orienteering course maps are available from our Gift Shop and are £1.00 each.
